Biographical Summary

Riccardo Rota is a Criminal Defence Lawyer with over 25 years of experience, mostly in Peel Region. He is licensed to practice in both Canada and the United States.

Born and raised just outside of Toronto, Riccardo attended St. Michael’s College School and York University, before moving south for warmer weather and Law School. His legal career began in Florida as a Public Defender, where he managed a high volume of cases and gained extensive experience in the courtroom.

Since being called to the Ontario Bar in 2006, Riccardo has been in Private Practice with a continued focus on criminal matters and a steadfast commitment to fairness - through the protection of rights and accepting Legal Aid.

Riccardo is also an active per diem Duty Counsel Lawyer in Brampton and was appointed as a Deputy Judge in early 2025. Riccardo has also worked as a Crown Attorney, providing him with a unique perspective of both sides of the courtroom.

When Riccardo is not working, he can be found on his motorcycle or in a Muay Thai class. He is also the biggest Formula One fan with a penchant for purple ink, like Enzo Ferrari.
