Posted by Peel Law Association on 12 March 2019

Continue to watch this space for promotions highlighting one of the books recently added to the PLA Library collection, as well as old favourites we think may be of interest to our PLA Library users.

Today's spotlight is on the book, Digital Privacy: Criminal, Civil and Regulatory Litigation by Gerald Chan and Nader R. Hasan. This text was recently added to the PLA Library Collection and is available for borrowing by current PLA Members.

From the Publisher

The arrival of the digital age and technological advancements of the 21st century has created new and unanticipated challenges to privacy. As the law and society's understanding of privacy have evolved in response to those challenges, the need for a book that examines that evolution was born. As they explain in the Preface to this volume, in developing the content for this book, the editors have aimed to "produce an inter-disciplinary approach to understand and litigate issues at the nexus of privacy, law and technology" in the digital age.

Book Spotlight - November 2018

Posted by Peel Law Association on 29 November 2018

Continue to watch this space for promotions highlighting one of the books recently added to the PLA Library collection, as well as old favourites we think may be of interest to our PLA Library users.

Today's spotlight is on the book, Mining Law of Canada by Dwight Newman. This text was recently added to the PLA Library Collection and is available for borrowing for current PLA Members.

From the Publisher
Mining law provides a legal structure for the exploration for and development of mineral resources, as well as a system for maximizing the economic value that the industry can produce while complying with an appropriate regulatory framework. Given this broad mandate, mining law draws on a range of practice areas from property law and constitutional law, to Aboriginal law and environmental law, to securities law and even international criminal law.

This text offers a comprehensive overview of these different aspects of mining law, and includes discussions about mineral rights, transactional provisions, foreign investment issues, financing and securities, mining operations, relevant taxation matters and extraterritorial regulation of Canadian mining companies working abroad.

In particular, Mining Law of Canada features expert commentary and in-depth analysis on the current state of mining law legislation and jurisprudence, including precedent-setting case law. As a result, it is a very useful reference for mining lawyers and professionals.
